The first step of your painless planning process? The design appointment, where we’ll discuss the overall aesthetic of your project—and have a lot of fun while doing so. Here’s an overview of what to expect at our first rendezvous.

Since we already know what you love, we’ll spend our first appointment discussing the way you want to live.
Will your dining room be used exclusively for holidays, or do you anticipate hosting weekly supper clubs? Even better news? Over the next 6-8 weeks, we’ll take care of sourcing, shipping, tracking, storing, and installing thousands of beautiful selections on your behalf.

Taking a DIY approach to interior design looks like a blast on HGTV—but the reality is that filling a home with intentional pieces that look beautiful and function just as fabulously takes so much longer than the length of a “Fixer Upper” episode. Design projects are measured in months—not days or hours—and it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of decisions involved with building and furnishing a custom home.
At Furnish by Shoreline, our process has been intentionally designed to help you enjoy making big-picture decisions in a streamlined manner, while removing the burden of curation, installation, and project management from your shoulders. Instead of asking you to choose between 600 different options, we’ll help you hone in on a price point for the pieces that matter most to you.
Then comes the really fun part for our team: diving into the details!
We’ll use our years of experience and vast vendor knowledge to source custom art, cool accessories, unique lighting fixtures, perfect plants...all the special pieces that will bring your interior spaces to life. All that’s left for you to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the presentation!
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
No time for homework? No worries! We are happy to guide you from A to Z, no prep work required. But, if you wish, before our first appointment, it might be helpful to think through a few design considerations...starting with your favorite furnishings.
To what type of pieces are you usually drawn? Do you prefer casual and comfy or formal and fabulous? Are there any aspects of your lifestyle that you feel should influence our selection process?
Next, think through some of the smaller details. From window treatments to the curation of cookware, our team will be installing every single component of your home. With that in mind, are there any antique or heirloom pieces you’d like to see incorporated? What types of rugs and textiles strike your fancy? Do you have a favorite local artist whose work you’d like to display? Are you dying to use wallpaper in a wonderfully whimsical laundry room?
