Classic Blue and White Custom Home in Palmetto Bluff
Cultivating a full-time family home, as opposed to a vacation property or second home, was a welcomed anomaly for the Furnish team! After leaving the city with their four girls in tow, this sweet family was more than ready to settle into their new turn-key Palmetto Bluff property.
Functionality and flexibility were the top priorities of our design, and every aspect of this project was purposefully centered around the family’s lifestyle. The end result is a fun and fluid home that reflects its new residents in a lovely way.
A Blue and White Palette
Our clients always had an affinity for blue and white color schemes. We incorporated an array of blues and whites with touches of silver throughout the home to anchor the design with a playful palette we knew they would love.
The custom blue couches flanking the living room are a bold counterpoint to the bright white backdrop of the space. Plush navy pillows and an upholstered pair of swivel-based accent chairs help break up the blue and add visual engagement to the cozy family room. Raw materials like leather, glass, and brick elevate the design without subduing its coastal aesthetic.
Bright and airy built-ins in the living room were filled with accents to lend color without dominating the space. Details like deep blue dishware and fresh white decor give a nautical nod to the neutral hard surfaces in the family’s open kitchen.
Custom drapery and layers of bright textiles help the dining room feel cohesive while the gorgeous white table and plush high-backed chairs set the space apart in all the right ways.
Embracing the Outdoors
Greenery helps blur the boundary between a home’s interior and exterior spaces, and is key for infusing nooks with natural warmth. In this home, a plethora of planters were filled with flora sourced by a gardener who specializes in our local Lowcountry terrain. By having an expert choose practical options with specific sun needs and environmental qualities in mind, we were able to use an array of unique plants both inside and out.
We extended the family’s living space into the fresh air by designing a stunning screened porch perfectly suited for entertaining. Custom couches and armchairs create an idyllic exterior seating area. The woven textures and breezy linens elevate the space and naturally draw visitors into the Lowcountry landscape. We also equipped the porch with a bar for al fresco dining options.
Rest & Relaxation
A beautiful boudoir is the best antidote to a busy life. We sourced many fine linens from Matouk to saturate each of the home’s sleeping quarters with serenity. Opting for bright furnishings and crisp window treatments allowed us to bathe every bedroom in natural light. Sleek white pieces and subtle pops of blue increase the harmony of the home’s design while personalized details provide a perfect place for each family member to unwind.
Lavish Livability
We kept the ages of this family’s four girls at the forefront of our minds to equip the home with everything it needs to grow alongside its residents.
Regionally-sourced Sisal rugs were utilized throughout the living areas—we love these rugs for their ability to provide tons of organic texture in a durable, kid-friendly fashion!
The loft was transformed into a charming hangout area for the family’s teen/tween girls. Whimsical artwork and fun prints were incorporated into the design to give the classic blue and white aesthetic a youthful quality.
This home also includes a gorgeous, girly nursery! With all of the linens washed and beds made upon the family’s arrival, their beautiful baby girl was able to take an afternoon nap immediately upon arrival.
Our turn-key service ensured that every facet of this family’s home was ready from the get-go. Dishes were washed and put away, place settings perfectly positioned atop the tables, beds made with clean linens, shower curtains hung, and soap dispensers filled—and as a result, our clients were totally prepared to enjoy their new life in the Lowcountry from the moment they walked through the front door.
Rather than making this home completely child-centric, we curated a family-friendly abode rooted in our homeowners’ lifestyle. Sophisticated details and a timeless color palette ensure this primary residence ages beautifully alongside its family!
