Refined Traditional Interior Design in the Lowcountry: Our First Reveal of 2021

This unique time in history has challenged all of us, but thanks to the open communication and strong relationships we share with our fabulous vendors, our clients always walk into a fully-furnished home ready for life in the Lowcountry. Rather than simply creating beautifully-designed interiors, we are all about cultivating purposeful spaces that are suited to the way you want to live. Today, we’re excited to provide a little insight into both our process and aesthetic via our first project reveal of 2021!

Overcoming Obstacles | The Process

Although social distancing measures and restrictions had started to lift by the time of this install, our team still had to navigate a plethora of pandemic-induced hiccups and supply chain interruptions in order to pull everything together.

For this project, and for many other design-builds executed for out-of-state clients, elements of the selection process were conducted via Zoom. Before every virtual meeting, we ensured that our team and clients had access to the same printed documents, room design boards, and floor plans so we were (literally) on the same page. This provided a seamless way for us to discuss everything from electrical outlets to furniture placement. We also put together a package of fabric swatches and material samples so that our clients had the opportunity to see and touch the actual materials that would be incorporated into their home.

Covid was not the only challenge that arose during the course of this project. Although we’re based in the Lowcountry, we also felt the effects of the unprecedented freeze in Texas, which led to The Great Foam Shortage of 2021. Or at least that’s what we dubbed it! Texas produces chemicals and materials used to make everything from garage doors to couch cushions, so when winter weather shut down these factories, essential materials were in short supply. Throughout every twist and turn, the Furnish team was in constant communication with our clients and vendors to ensure delays were kept to an absolute minimum.

Open communication and flexibility definitely paid off. On the day of this reveal, our clients were able to tour their fully-furnished home, complete with all the necessities—down to the last teaspoon!

Kitchen Goods Galore

Speaking of teaspoons...these clients had the pleasure of walking into a kitchen that was not only beautiful to look at, but completely stocked with all the essentials needed to whip up a meal on the spot. We even set the table for them! In addition to helping our clients select the glassware, tableware, gizmos, and gadgets they needed to create the kitchen of their dreams, we ensured that every ounce of storage was used strategically to make maintenance a piece of cake. The end result is clean, curated, and anything but chaotic.

Patterns and Palettes

Custom furnishings and luxe linens were used in a variety of spaces to ensure the entire home told a seamless story. The barstools in the kitchen and drapery in the master bedroom were both custom created with fabrics selected by our clients. We curated pottery and art by local Lowcountry artists through Artizan Studios to match our clients’ preferences and tie everything together.

Elegant coastal wallpaper and a show-stopping vanity made a beautiful statement in the bathroom. Combining a modern sink and sleek countertops with traditional fixtures kept the design grounded while adding tons of personality and charm. Plus, with every towel stocked in the bathrooms and every bed perfectly made with freshly-laundered linens, our clients were ready to begin living in their home immediately after moving in!

Personal Touches

Our clients provided us with pictures and decorative pieces that inspired an equestrian-themed area in their home. On reveal day, we loved seeing their eyes light up as they came across their personal decor and photographs—proof that this wasn’t a staged house, but their custom home. While we love gorgeous textiles and reclaimed flooring, our favorite part of every project is designing interiors around what matters most to each of our clients.

With fabulous frames full of family photos, coffee table books set out in the living room, and cookbooks ready to serve up inspiration on the kitchen counters, every facet of this design was configured with our clients in mind.
